Research & Technology:

  • Satellite Tags: Tracking shark movements and behavior.

  • Dard tags: Small markers used for identifying individual sharks and gathering recapture data.

  • ARGOS Satellite Service: Monthly subscription for transmitting location data.

  • Underwater Lasers & GoPros: Used for precise measurements and behavioral observations.

  • Anemometers & Environmental Sensors: Long-term monitoring of ocean conditions.

Field Expeditions:

  • Boat Rental: Essential for tagging expeditions, which cannot be carried out during tourist shark tours.

  • Gasoline: Covering our shark tagging field trips, which, although essential, may not always be successful due to unpredictable ocean conditions. However, as these expeditions are organized, scheduled, and budgeted well in advance, we ensure that the costs are accounted for regardless of the outcome.

  • Safety Gear & Equipment: Ensuring safe and effective fieldwork.

Personnel & Community Engagement:

  • Fishermen Salaries: Supporting local fishermen who assist in research.

  • Research Team Stipends: Covering fieldwork, data collection, and analysis.

Logistics & Overhead Costs:

  • Website Maintenance: Keeping our research and findings accessible.

  • SurveyMonkey Subscription: Monthly fees for maintaining online questionnaires.

  • External Hard Drives & Data Storage: Safeguarding years of photgraphs and videos for photo-ID study.

  • Permits & Legal Fees: Ensuring compliance with regulations for conservation work.
